JLBORGES circuit in Buenos Aires



He was born at Tucumán 840, between Suipacha and Esmeralda. At the age of two, his family moved to Serrano (now Borges) 2135.

He attended primary school at Thames 2321.

From 1938 to 1943 he lived at Anchorena 1672.

In 1944 he moved to Maipú 994 6th B with his mother Leonor Acevedo.

In 1967 he married Elsa Astete Millán and they moved to Avda. Belgrano 1337, where he lived until their separation in 1970.

In 1933/34 Borges edited the literary supplement of the newspaper Crítica, at Avda de Mayo 1333.

In 1955, after the overthrow of Perón, he was appointed director of the National Library, at Mexico 564, until 1973.

In 1956 Borges taught English Literature at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UBA, Viamonte 430.

At Anchorena 1660 is the Jorge Luis Borges International Foundation, founded by his second wife María Kodama.

In the Recoleta cemetery is the family mausoleum, with the remains of his grandparents, parents and sister.

At Almirante Brown 301, Adrogué, Buenos Aires Province, his mother had that summer house built where Borges went during his childhood.

At Villa Ocampo, Elortondo 1837, Beccar, Province of Buenos Aires, Victoria Ocampo introduced Borges to Bioy Casares.
